Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Hit By Taxi in Hampton Bays
The man was hit while crossing Montauk Highway on Sunday morning, police say.

A man was hospitalized after he was hit by a taxi while crossing the street in Hampton Bays on Sunday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.
Police received a call of a car accident involving a single car hitting a pedestrian by the McDonald’s on Montauk Highway at about 5 a.m., police said.
Officers responded and found a man lying in the street on Montauk Highway apparently suffering from injuries sustained after having been struck by a car, police said.

The Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance responded to render medical assistance to the man who, due to the nature of his injuries, was transported via Suffolk County Police Aviation Section to Stony Brook University Hospital, according to police.
The operator of a Sunset Taxi cab based in Hampton Bays reported he had been driving westbound on Montauk Highway and did not see the man before hitting him on the westbout lane, west of the main entrance to the Stop and Shop, police said.

The man remains hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital while being treated for his injuries, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is requested to contact the Southampton Town Police Department Detective Division.
