Police ID Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck In Hampton Bays
The driver is facing a felony charge for leaving the scene, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Police have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck in Hampton Bays Friday as Porfirio Blanco Rivera, 59, of Hampton Bays.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 7:24 pm. A 911 call came in about a vehicle striking a pedestrian on Springville Road just south of Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, police said.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Southampton Town police and New York State police responded to the scene; witnesses and officers performed CPR on Rivera, who was transported by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, police said.
Kenneth Riccioli, 55, of Florida, was subsequently arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a serious physical injury or death, a felony; and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.

Rivera succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police said.
Southampton Town police detectives and the NYSP accident reconstruction unit responded to the scene for further investigation, police said.
