WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Westhampton Beach High School students honored Veterans Day by hearing stories of courage and valor from real-life local heroes.

Students heard "not only war stories from veterans from VFW Post 5350, based in Quogue, but also narratives of patriotism and heroics," according to a release from the Westhampton Beach School District.

The event, which took place on Thursday, featured veterans speaking to students in history classes. The students, according to school officials, thanked the heroes for their service and sacrifice.
