Teacher, WHB Grad, Raising Funds For Educational Service Trip
The experience "will enhance my studies, promote cultural awareness and help me become a global citizen." — Kevin Liotta-Devivo.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A Westhampton Beach High School graduate and Speonk native has taken the lessons he learned as a student on the East End and is now a music teacher in Tampa, Florida. This summer, he hopes to take the trip of a lifetime to help him grow as an educator and expand his students' horizons.
Kevin Liotta-Devivo will be traveling with his fellow educators on an ACIS Educational Tour, "Educators Exploring Costa Rica," led by one of his co-workers.
"It's sure to be an amazing and life-changing experience that will enhance my studies, promote cultural awareness and help me become a global citizen," Liotta-Devivo said. "With the help of my family, friends and other supporters, I know I can make it happen. Please consider supporting my travel dreams with a donation of any amount."

Liotta-Devivo teaches at an International Baccalaureate school, he said. "We teach our students to be risk takers, principled, leaders," the said.
The trip is also dedicated to service: While in Costa Rica, he and his group will be building a bus stop at a local school and volunteering at a local animal shelter.

And then, Liotta-Devivo said, he will bring the experiences he's amassed back to students, opening their eyes to new worlds.
"The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world," he said.
According to ACIS, in educational travel, every moment matters. "Our mission is to empower educators to introduce their students to the world beyond the classroom and inspire the next generation of global citizens. Travel changes lives," the ACIS website said.
