Teen To 'Shoot Up' High School, Social Media Threat Says: Cops

The Hampton Bays teen was the focus of social media chatter saying he'd "shoot up" a Huntington school, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays teen was the center of a social media threat stating that he'd shoot up a high school in Huntington, police said.

On Tuesday at 5:15 p.m., a 16-year-old male told the Southampton Town Police Department that he had been the subject of social media chatter suggesting he was going to shoot up St. Anthony’s High School in Huntington, police said.

The Southampton Town Police Department's detective division and Suffolk County Police detectives have determined the threat to be non-credible, police said.

Both the St. Anthony’s High School administration and the Hampton Bays School District administration were advised; the investigation is continuing to determine the origin of the messaging, police said.
