Thief Steals More Than 500 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel: Cops

The fuel cell was stolen from the parking lot at a beach in the Hamptons, police say.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Police are searching for whoever stole a fuel cell with more than 500 gallons of diesel fuel from a Westhampton Beach parking lot.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Westhampton Beach Police Department detectives are asking for the public's help to identify and locate whoever stole the fuel from the parking lot at Lashley Beach on Dune Road sometime between November 18 at 4 p.m. and November 19 at 6 a.m., police said.

The fuel cell has a tracking number of 528TC27 and weighed in excess of 6,500 pounds at the time of the theft.
