🌱 Westhampton-Hampton Bays Daily: Affordable Housing Crisis + Fire
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Westhampton-Hampton Bays.

Happy Friday, neighbors! As we start the Easter weekend, it's time to reflect on those who might be struggling during a time when so many are gathering with family and friends.
In the news today, another story of residents displaced after fire ripped through their Hampton Bays mobile home Sunday. The story comes on the heels of a motel fire that left 24 homeless in Hampton Bays just days earlier; fundraising efforts are ongoing to help all who were left with nothing.
But, as many have said, beyond the immediate loss of possessions and memories, those left homeless after the fires are struggling in the face of a lack of affordable housing on the East End that has hit crisis proportions.
To that end, a new event has been organized in Sag Harbor to explore the growing problem and discuss possible solutions.
Patch wants to hear your stories. Have you been left without a place to stay, either because of disaster or escalating rent prices? Or, are you unable to live in the community where you work because there are just no rentals to be had?
We want to put faces to the crisis, to tell your stories. It's only by sharing together that we can begin to find answers. Please email your stories or contact information to Lisa.Finn@patch.com if you'd like to be part of this new series.
Until next time. . .
