EAST ISLIP, NY - A 25-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car while she was out walking her dog Tuesday morning in East Islip, police said.

According to police, Skye Brunetti was walking her dog on the sidewalk on Union Boulevard, west of Harwood Avenue, near her home when she was hit by a 2007 Chrysler sedan that was heading west on Union Boulevard at about 9:10 a.m.

The car also hit a utility pole, severing it, police said. Brunetti was pronounced dead at the scene. Her dog was also killed.
