53-Year-Old Man Pulled From Burning Vehicle on Robert Moses Causeway
The man suffered serious injuries in crash Thursday morning, police say. Passing motorists pulled him from the burning car.
WEST ISLIP, NY - A 53-year-old man was seriously injured in a single-car crash on the Robert Moses Causeway in West Islip Thursday morning, police said.
According to State Police, William Strein, of Greenlawn, was driving a 2003 Lincoln southbound on the causeway south of Sunrise Highway when he lost control of the car and struck the center guardrail.
The vehicle then continued back across both lanes and entered the right shoulder, where it struck a tree before catching fire, police said. Strein, who was pulled from the burning vehicle by passing motorists, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
