Aidan Kelly of West Islip earns Silver at the 2011 Empire State Games  

 March 1, 2011- On February 27, 2011, Aidan Kelly of West Islip; a member of the USA Luge Junior National Candidate team, raced to a 2^nd place finish in the Open category of the 2011 Empire State Games.  Missing the top spot by +.646 (646 thousanths of a second), Aidan beat out 8 other sliders who hail from Utah, Michigan,Vermont, Texas and New York. With a first run time of 45.256 seconds and a 2^nd run time of 45.425 seconds, Aidan finished his two run race with a combined time of 1:30.681 (1 minute, 30 seconds and 681 thousanths of a second).  No wonder they call luge “the fastest sport on ice!” Aidan, a junior at National SportsAcademy in Lake Placid, NY will be racing in 3 additional races (all of which are located at the US Olympic track in Lake Placid,NY):  The Norton National Race (3/6/11), the Norton Jr. National Race (3/13/11) and the Norton Youth National Race (3/20/11).
