Bayview Students FaceTime With A Figure Skater
Allen shared her training experiences from when she was 9 years old through to her participation in the 1980 Winter Olympics.
From West Islip Schools: Students in Maria Lucie’s classroom in West Islip’s Bayview Elementary School recently were able to meet former Olympic figure skater Lisa-Marie Allen via FaceTime. Allen shared her training experiences from when she was 9 years old through to her participation in the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York. “My students were able to ask many interesting questions about training, coaching and balancing education with athletics, as well as about Lisa-Marie’s professional skating career,” said Lucie. “They learned a great deal about the life of an Olympian and the sacrifices that Olympic athletes make to become successful.”
