You could blame the defense, who gave up a 23 point halftime lead. You could blame the quarterback, who threw two interceptions in the final three minutes of play. You could blame the coach, who didn’t insist on running out the clock. You could blame the owner, who just deserves to be blamed. There’s plenty to go around.
Faced with an opportunity to take over first place in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys surged ahead of the Aaron Rogerless Green Bay Packers 26 – 3 by the intermission. At that point everything was going right for the Cowboys. The defense, ranked last in the NFL, had only surrendered a field goal. Tony Romo was zipping passes to his receivers. Running back, DeMarco Murry was on his way to a 134 yard rushing day. And Jerry Jones was smiling.
But it all unraveled in the second half. The Packers began to score every time they had the ball. Three touchdowns, around a lone Cowboy field goal, made the score 29 – 24 shortly after the fourth quarter had begun. With the game and first place quickly slipping away the Cowboys, desperate for a big play, got one from, arguably, the best player on the field. Dez Bryant reaching over two defenders, pulled in a short floater and got two feet down before being knocked out of the back of the end zone. The Cowboys had a 12 point lead and with only 8 minutes left on the clock what looked like a victory.

Then, after an initial first down was registered, Romo decided to change the play call from a run to a pass. Pressured by a rushing linebacker his throw was behind its intended target and picked off by the Packers. A few plays later the Packers scored and had a one point lead.
It was now “RomoTime”, the time for Tony Romo to mess up. And that he did. Looking to move his team into field goal position Romo’s pass into the right flat was picked off and the Packers had only to kneel on the ball to secure the comeback.

After the interception and with time remaining on the clock, Dez Bryant was seen leaving the field. Being the best player doesn’t mean you have class. Head coach Jason Garett was throwing his quarterback under the bus, saying he was supposed to run the ball. And Jerry Jones had lost his smile…
