A Kodak Moment...A Community United

A Community United for Kenny Kodak

It always touches my heart when in times of hardship I see the surrounding community step up to the plate and make things happen to help in the lives of those going through hard times.  Somehow when we count on one another it makes our trials easier to handle and our  journey to see it through paved with friendships and memories to last a lifetime.  In unity there is strength and I want to applaud the unity of the West Islip community for the amazing support of Kenny Kodak.  Thanks to the wonderful people who have organized this outreach and sent me the information so that I may put it together and send it out on The Patch, so that others may get involved.  A special thank you to Michelle Kane for her big heart :)Kenny Kodak is a 12 year old boy from West Islip.  Kenny is an excellent student, Lacrosse Player and person, who is simply loved by all.  He is counted amont one of their favorite students by the teachers, and the friendships around him speak that in volume.  Recently, Kenny was diagnosed with a brain tumor known as Medulloblastoma.  This is the most common malignant brain tumor of childhood cancers.  Treatments will include surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.  Dealing with childhood cancer is a huge emotional fight, as well as a true financial hardship on the family.  The community has gathered together to help Kenny and his family through this very difficult time in any way we can.On Friday, June 24th, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. a fundraiser will be held at the West Islip Fire Department.  The boys will have the opportunity to shave their heads for the summer in support of Kenny.  There will be a DJ, Food, Raffles, Hair Extensions for the girls, Face Painting, Tattoos and lots of Entertainment.  Tickets will be sold at the door and all proceeds will go to Kenny and his family.I urge all of you that know Kenny, as well as any resident from any town that just wishes to be a part of the outreach for this wonderful young many to bring your family and come out on Friday night to the West Islip Fire Department, Union Blvd. In West Islip and help a child in need.  For further information you may reach Michelle Kane at 631-704-7144.  All Donations can be sent to Kennys Krew Fund P.O. Box 282, West Islip, NY 11795.I hope to see you all there!
