In Time for Veterans Day, A New Home for a Navy Vet and His Family
The first recipient of the Town of Babylon Veterans Downpayment Assistance Program closed on the purchase of his new home. My office was proud to be part of it.
Veterans Day came a little early at my office.
In May of this year, the Town of Babylon and the Long Island Housing Partnership announced landmark Veterans Down Payment Assistance Program, offering up to $10,000 for veterans to purchase a home in Babylon.

When the announcement was made, Supervisor (and now Suffolk County Executive-Elect) Steve Bellone was joined by members of the Suffolk County Veterans of Foreign Wars, representatives from the Long Island Housing Partnership and town officials to announce a groundbreaking program that will provide veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom financial assistance to purchase a home in the Town of Babylon. The program is one of many town initiatives that seek to honor the sacrifices that members of our armed services have made on behalf of our country.

Under the Town of Babylon Veterans Down Payment Assistance Program, the Town will offer assistance of up to $10,000 for down payment and/or closing costs to veterans of the US Armed Forces who served on active duty since October 7, 2001 who are purchasing a home in the Town of Babylon.
An agent in my office, Netter Real Estate in West Islip, made history by helping her client, Francisco Aguilar and his family find their new home and were the first people who received the Town of Babylon Veterans Down Payment Assistance to close on the purchase of their new home.
Francisco, or Frank, as he prefers to be called, is a United States Navy Logistic Specialist 2. He and his family were excited to have this additional buying power in this already phenomenal buyers’ market. It brought them that much closer to achieving their dream of Town of Babylon homeownership. Everything came together a few months ago and a couple of weeks ago, they closed and got the keys to their new home.
It was a historic moment in the lives of the Aguilar family and for the Town of Babylon. Everyone at my office was extremely proud to be part of it.
Thank you, Francisco for your service in the US Navy. You’ve earned your little
piece of America. May your new home bring you and your family years of joy.
Thank you to ALL the men and women, past and present serving in America’s Armed Forces.
