This week, Thursday Night Football matches two teams from the AFC West. The San Diego Chargers go into the Mile High City to face the Denver Broncos. The game brings together two of this season’s top quarterbacks. Philip Rivers, of the Chargers, who is enjoying the best season of his career completing a league high 70% of his passes and Peyton Manning, enough said.
The Chargers are currently 5 – 6 and fighting for the final wild card entry into the playoffs. The 11 – 2 Broncos have already clinched a playoff berth but need to continue winning to maintain their lead in the division.
The area weather report calls for a temperature of 27 degrees at game time, falling into the low 20’s as the evening progresses. If and how much either quarterback is affected by the cold could have a major role in the outcome of the contest. More likely however will be how well the Chargers 28th ranked pass defense handle Manning and the Broncos receivers, who will be without the services of Wes Welker.
