A dozen West Islip High School students were recently named Town of Islip Student Achievement Award winners. The awards are based on the accomplishments of outstanding and talented students in grades 9-12 who have excelled in a specific academic area or who have made significant contributions to the community.
The winners were freshman Keirsten Nizen in the Fine Arts category; junior John DiBenedetto for Mathematics; senior Amanda Squeglia for Scholarship & Athletics; and seniors Marisa Calderone, Bethany Fanning, Grace Gallagher, Vanessa Gentile, Gizela Maksym, Anna Rentz, Tiarnan Smith, Samantha Soevyn and Tristan Tran in the Science category.
