WEST ISLIP, NY - An online fundraiser was recently started on behalf of a West Islip motorcyclist who was seriously injured in an East Islip crash last month.
On Jan. 28, Brendon Patton was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Main Street near Fern Place when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a 2019 BMW.
The 33-year-old was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.

"We have been by Brendon's side constantly since his accident, praying and fighting for his recovery," the McCarthys wrote on the page. "We are happy to report that he IS improving- but this road will be very long."
Patton is a former U.S. Marine and firefighter for the Veteran's Administration. In addition, he also served his community as a former volunteer with West Islip and Islip Volunteer Fire Departments.
He will be spending 3 months in rehabilitative therapy at North Shore University Hospital in Glen Cove.
His family has been fighting the insurance company for coverage and needs help to raise money to help Patton and his 7-year-old son Rylan.
The couple started the fundraiser to help "offset the uncovered costs" associated with the accident as well as therapy and general loss of pay.
The goal of the page is to raise a total of $14,000. As of Thursday, the GoFundMe has raised a total of $11,049.
"We pray daily that he is able to make a full recovery and get back to the job of being Rylan's Dad- full time," the page reads.
