Legis. Barraga Scoops Up Some Fun at 2015 Elizabeth T. McNamee Memorial Run

Suffolk County Legis. Tom Barraga, R-West Islip, recently participated in the 2015 Elizabeth T. McNamee Memorial Run.

Elizabeth McNamee was a young talented student from West Islip with a promising future. She attended West Islip High School and later graduated from Harvard University with honors. In her final year at NYU Law School her life suddenly ended. She died from a disease known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) in 1998.

Every year participants register to walk/run in the race to help raise funds for the Elizabeth T. McNamee Memorial Fund.

The fund was established in Elizabeth’s honor to help educate the public and healthcare professionals; provide support services to those affected by this rare disease and to support scholarship programs, community projects, childhood disease foundations and pediatric care facilities.
