The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Police are investigating whether the man’s death is connected to the recent slayings of the four local teens whose bodies were found in the area last month and were searching for evidence in the nearby wooded areas along with a K-9 unit as of Friday morning, according to a Newsday report.
“We’re keeping all avenues of the investigation open,” Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer told Newsday.
Last month, 15-year-old Nisa Mickens and 16-year-old Kayla Cuevas were found dead near Stahley Street and Ray Court, and the remains of 19-year-old Oscar Acosta and 15-year-old Miguel Garcia Moran were found in a wooded area by Emjay Boulevard.
Their deaths are all believed to be tied to gang activity. So far, police have not said if an arrest has been made in connection to the murders.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
