The Giants have backed themselves into a must win situation this week against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Tom Coughlin seems to feel a loss this week will not doom the Giants chances of making the post season. However history is not on his side. Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 only one 0 – 4 team has gone on to make the playoffs.
Even so, the Giants can get themselves back in the race for the NFC East Championship with a win on Sunday. The division is still very much up for grabs. Only one team, the Dallas Cowboys, has a winning record. With 13 games still to play the Giants are not out of the hunt. Many of the Giants players have expressed confidence they can turn the season around and produce a win come Sunday. However, before the Giants can realistically talk about being a playoff team they need to regain some respectability.
No the Giants are not yet out of contention but their margin for error is extremely small…
