According to a recent report by WalletHub, the state ranked as the best for teachers in the U.S.

NEW YORK - New York was recently ranked as the best state for teachers in the U.S., according to a report in WalletHub.

The website recently ranked all 50 states on how "teacher-friendly" they are.

The criteria for judging the areas including comparing factors such as teachers’ income growth potential, pupil to teacher ratio and teacher safety.

New York made the top of the list as the number 1 best state for teachers followed by Connecticut.

Hawaii ranked as the worst state for teachers.

According to the report, New York took the number 1 spot due to having the highest salaries for teachers, the highest public school spending per student and the lowest teacher turnover rate.

However, New York state also had the lowest enrollment growth as well as the highest commute time for teachers.
