Northwell Health Distributes 1,500 Back-to-School Backpacks for Suffolk Students

These helped families start the school year off well.

Northwell Health helped get families prepared for the new school year when it distributed about 1,500 backpacks stuffed with school supplies for Suffolk County students.

The bags, made in conjunction with the Islip Town branch of the NAACP and other local community groups, were handed out August 27 at the New York Institute of Technology’s Central Islip campus.

In addition, local parents and children learned about the importance of immunizations through a series of lectures featuring Sunil Sood, MD, chief of pediatrics and an infectious disease specialist at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
