• West Islip man indicted for manslaughter, DWI, leaving scene of Robert Moses Causeway crash (news12.com) — A 63-year-old West Islip resident has been indicted on manslaughter, DWI, and hit-and-run charges after a June crash on the Robert Moses Causeway that killed a 27-year-old pedestrian from Bay Shore. Prosecutors say he was drunk and high, left the scene, and later surrendered at his home; he faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted and returns to court October 16.
