Police: Car With 4-Month-Old Inside Stolen After Aunt Leaves Baby to Shop
The car was found nearby with the unharmed baby inside Monday morning in Bay Shore.

A Bay Shore woman faces a child endangerment charge after her car with her 4-month-old niece alone inside was stolen while the woman went to grab breakfast Monday at a Subway in Bay Shore.
According to police, Gail Solomon, 43, entered the sandwich shop located at 1735 Union Boulevard around 8 a.m. Monday. Her niece was in the backseat of her car, which was left running and unlocked, police said.
While Solomon was inside Subway, a white man, wearing jeans and a dark sweater or sweatshirt, stole the vehicle with the baby inside. Two other people then got into the stolen car on Union Boulevard, police said.

The stolen car was abandoned a short time later, with the unharmed baby inside, on Cherry Street, between Third Avenue and Fourth avenues, in Bay Shore, police said.
The car thieves have not been found, but Solomon was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
