Police: Someone With a Delaware IP Address Threatened Shooting, Bombing at West Islip High
Threat was not credible, although police continue to investigate, officials say.

Suffolk police and additional security were on hand at West Islip High School on Tuesday following a reported shooting and bomb threat toward the school.
According to police, a 911 call came in at 9:20 p.m. Monday regarding a threat made via the Boys Town suicide hotline in Nebraska.
The threat was made through an online chat and the person threatened to shoot and blow up West Islip High, police said. The threat was made by someone with a Delaware IP address, police said.

The threat was unfounded, but the incident remains under investigation, police said.
“The safety of our students and security of our schools is our primary concern,” a statement on the West Islip School District website reads. “Such incidents are taken seriously and the police are conducting an investigation. Increased security is in place at the high school, and as a precaution, police will have an increased presence in the community.”
