St. John The Baptist Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Congratulations to the Class of 2018 valedictorian and salutatorian!

WEST ISLIP, NY - St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School recently announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2018.
Aidan Healy of Islip is the valedictorian and Michael McKenna of Blue Point is the salutatorian.
Both of these students have worked hard and put in long hours to mold themselves into outstanding scholars and exemplary members of the St. John the Baptist community.

In addition to their academic excellence, both students are involved with many extra-curricular activities both in and out of school.
Healy is the vice president of SJB’s chapter of the National Honor Society. He also competes in Varsity Cross Country and Track and Field.

In addition to these in-school activities, he is a volunteer at St. Patrick’s Parish in Bay Shore where he serves as a Eucharistic Minister and lector. He is also an active volunteer with Challenger Athletics which is an organization dedicated to providing sports programs to people with learning and physical disabilities.
McKenna is the president of SJB’s chapter of the National Honor Society, competes in Varsity Lacrosse, and is a dedicated volunteer at St. John the Baptist’s Writing Center where he serves as a tutor.
In addition to his in-school activities, McKenna volunteers at St. Charles hospital where he works in an administrative capacity. He also served as a research assistant at Stony Brook University during the summer of 2017.
Healy will attend Boston College next year, where he will pursue a major in Finance and Accounting at the
Carroll School of Management. He plans on minoring in Spanish.
McKenna will attend Georgia Institute of Technology on a College of Science Dean’s Scholarship. He will major in Physics with a minor in Spanish and plans to pursue medical school in the future.
"We are so thrilled for both Aidan and Michael; they are tremendous representatives of our school community and fine young gentlemen," Principal Biagio M. Arpino said.
