Suffolk Officers Rescue Injured Egret

The injured bird was found unable to walk or fly.

WEST BABYLON, NY - Suffolk Police officers rescued an injured egret in West Babylon on Monday night.

A resident called 911 to report that an injured egret was on his neighbors’ front lawn on West Ninth Street at about 6:40 p.m. The bird was limping and unable to fly.

Officer Matthew Garcia, along with Emergency Service Officers Dave Katzen and Keith Charley, responded and were able to secure the egret with a net.

The egret was then taken to a local animal hospital for treatment.

When the egret is fully recovered it will be returned to the wild.
