The G- Men vs. the Boys

“Something’s gotta give.”  The Giants have never lost in Cowboy Stadium (4 – 0).  The Cowboys have never lost to the Giants on an opening day.  In the recent past Giants – Cowboy games have been some of the most exciting games in the NFL.  Both teams know each other well.  The result should come down to execution.

Victor Cruz will play, JPP may not.  The Giants have a refurbished offensive line.  The Cowboys have Dez Bryant, arguably the best pass receiver in the league. They also have Tony Romo.  Romo is one of the biggest mysteries in the League.  No one doubts his talent and ability.  His biggest problem has been the inability to step up at the big moment.

Here are the keys to the game as I see it:

On offense:

Find out what's happening in West Islipfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

1.     The Giants will need to run the ball efficiently enough to keep the Cowboy pass rush from pressuring to Eli Manning.

2.     Giant rookie tackle Justin Pugh needs to hold his own against the Cowboys top defensive player Demarcus Ware.

3.     Giants’ wide receivers need to get separation from the Cowboy pass defenders.

On defense:

1.     The Giants new, big beef, defensive line has to shut down the Cowboy running game.

2.     Justin Tuck and whomever is at the Giants other defensive end have to contain Romo and not allow him to scramble, especially to his right.

3.     The Giants pass defense cannot allow “Giants Killer” Jason Witten from getting double digit receptions.

My feeling is that come early Monday morning the Giants will be headed home with a 1 – 0 record...
