It is tough to win a game in the NFL when you turn the football over six times. That’s exactly the position the Giants put themselves into during the Sunday night, marquee matchup against their Division rivals from Dallas. The Giants handed the Cowboys the early lead and spent the rest of the evening playing catch up against a clearly inferior opponent. In the end, as the Giants often do, they found a way to lose.
Wasted was a 450 yard passing game by Eli Manning. Wasted was a three touchdown night by Victor Cruz. Wasted was a good 4th quarter effort by the defensive unit. Wasted was an opportunity to set the tone in the NFC East.
Throughout the game the Giants offense showed flashes of brilliance. Each of three Giants’ receivers exceeded 100 yards. Eli, under constant pressure from the Cowboy defense, made play after play. With about two minutes remaining in the game the Giants had the ball around midfield with a chance to win the game. However a third interception, to go along with three lost fumbles, proved to be too much to overcome. Now, the Giants must find a way to put this difficult loss behind them and get ready for next week’s “Manning Bowl.” It will not be easy.
