Two Hurt in Long Island Home Invasion

Two women were followed into a home by two men armed with a gun Thursday night, police say.

Two women returning to a Long Island home Thursday night were followed inside by two men, who proceeded to tie up four people inside the home, including a 12-year-old boy, and then ransack the home for three hours, police said.

Two people were taken to the hospital following the home invasion, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. at 19 Woodbine Avenue in Bay Shore.

According to police, a 35-year-old woman was returning to her home with a 20-year-old female friend and as they entered the residence, which borders the property of Mary G. Clarkson Elementary School, they were followed into the house by two men who were armed with a handgun.

The men restrained the homeowner, her female friend, the homeowner’s 35-year-old boyfriend and her 12-year-old son with zip ties, police said. The men ransacked the home for about three hours and took cash from the homeowner’s purse.

The female homeowner received injuries to her face and was transported via Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where she is listed in stable condition. Her boyfriend was also transported to Southside, where he was treated for minor facial injuries. The other two people in the house were not injured.

One shot was fired inside the house, but no one was struck, police said.

The assailants fled in the homeowner’s 2013 Honda westbound on Greenwood Road. Police located the vehicle on 3rd Avenue in Bay Shore around 5:20 a.m. No arrests have been made.
