The west side was the best side in the Girls-Under-13 Arch Capital Group Cup. In the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) final between two Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) teams from neighboring towns, the West Islip Fusion shut out East Islip Intensity, 1-0, on June 7 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.
West Islip’s Adrienne Casey, who could not play as the goalkeeper as she had broken her finger in goal during LIJSL play, was in the field and scored the only goal of the game. Her teammate, Heather Dreyer, had the shutout in goal instead.
“The difference today was our very strong bench,” said West Islip coach Joe Kennedy.
