West Islip High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal
The West Islip school district recently appointed David Rubano as assistant principal.

WEST ISLIP, NY —Students at West Islip High School have a new assistant principal.
The West Islip School District recently announced that David Rubano officially joined the West Islip team on Aug. 31.
After working in the financial sector for seven years, Rubano decided to change paths and pursue a career in education. He began working as a teacher’s assistant in a special education classroom.

“Working in that classroom is where I found my passion for education,” he said.
In 2008, he began working as a social studies teacher at St. John the Baptist High School. In 2015, he moved to a new teaching position at Elmont Memorial High School.

Rubano holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds a master’s degree in education from Dowling College.
“I am happy to be part of the West Islip High School community and want to help students form great memories during their high school years,” he said.
