West Islip Inducts 40 Into Business And Marketing Honor Society

Keynote speaker Robert Cutrone, a 2010 West Islip alumnus, shared stories of his own successes and failures as a young entrepreneur.

From the West Islip School District: Recognizing outstanding academic achievement in the school’s business education program, West Islip High School recently honored 40 exemplary students with induction into the New York State Business and Marketing Honor Society.

“Both in the classroom and through extracurricular involvement, students selected for recognition demonstrated the outstanding qualities of character, leadership, and community service,” said adviser Joanne Macrelli, who was in attendance along with fellow adviser Patricia Morgigno; business education teachers Frank Franzone, Diana Saadat, Shawn Wallace and Kerrin West-Shank; Business Education Director Kathleen Sapanski; and Superintendent Bernadette Burns.

Keynote speaker Robert Cutrone, a 2010 West Islip alumnus, shared stories of his own successes and failures as a young entrepreneur. Cutrone is the founder of Just Press Play Entertainment and the owner of The Bean coffee house in Patchogue.

After the ceremony, the inductees and attendees were invited to celebrate their accomplishments at a coffee and cake reception, where students had the opportunity to interact with Cutrone, ask questions and learn more about the business field and entrepreneurship.
