West Islip Recognizes Seniors With Be the Light Event
The local high school recently recognized its Class of 2020 by participating in the national Be the Light event on Sunday.

West Islip High School recently recognized its Class of 2020 by participating in the national Be the Light event. The school’s stadium lights illuminated the field at 8:20 p.m. (20:20 military time) for 20 minutes with the stadium scoreboard displaying “2020” in support of the seniors.

“Our hope is this tribute will serve as a source of light and inspiration for the senior class, through the darkness of COVID-19,” said Tim Horan, the district’s director of health, physical education, athletics and recreation.
