West Islip Robotics competing at F.I.R.S.T. Regional Competition at Hofstra University.

Members of the West Islip Robotics Team will be competing this weekend, Friday and Saturday, in the F.I.R.S.T. Regional Competition held at Hofstra University. The team invested in excess of five thousand hours to transform a box of materials and components into a working robot. Their robot will compete against 48 other Long Island High Schools and Brazil on a complex playing field. Robots will be required to navigate obstacles, throw boulders through narrow targets and ascend a tower. The competition is one of 37 regional events taking place around the world. Finalist will compete in the F.I.R.S.T. USA Championship, April 27 – 30th in St. Louis, Missouri. The West Islip Robotics Team is proud to be a part of this International Competition. They would like to thank the mentors who have invested their time and knowledge to guide them through the various mechanical, electrical and software challenges. The West Islip Robotics Team is also incredibly grateful to the sponsors who’s generous contributions have made participation in this event possible. Our major sponsors in 2016 include: Underwriter Laboratories, HTx Services, LLC, Microchip Technologies, Enersys Batteries, West Islip Country Fair, Lockheed Martin, West Islip Chamber of Commerce and Barnes & Noble. We have also been fortunate to receive donations from local community businesses like Broadway Electrical Supply, Café Europa, Darren Campanelli, Edwards Fence, Gran Prints, Perfect Image Home Improvement and Some Guys Carwash. The team encourages the community to support these businesses that have so generously supported our West Islip Team.
