West Islip School Budget Vote, Trustee Election Tuesday
Here's what you need to know before heading to the polls.

West Islip residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for a proposed school budget and to elect school board trustees.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at West Islip High School.
The West Islip Board of Education is proposing a $120.5 million budget for 2016-17. That represents a 2.36 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 0.35 percent hike in the school tax levy.

"Although this budget was prepared in a difficult economic environment, it balances the long-term needs of our students with the fiscal realities of the day," Superintendent Bernadette Burns said in a budget newsletter. Read the full newsletter here.
Voters will also elect school board trustees on Tuesday, but three incumbents–Scott Brady, Annmarie LaRosa and Kevin O’Connor–are all running unopposed for new three-year terms.
