West Islip School District Welcomes New Director of Technology

The district announced Monday that Desmond Poyser will serve as the new director of technology.

WEST ISLIP, NY — The West Islip School District has appointed a new director of technology.

Desmond Poyser, the district announced Monday, will provide leadership for the continued development of an "innovative, robust and secure information technology environment" throughout West Islip. He officially started the position on July 26.

Poyser brings more than 17 years of technical and management experience in information technology, program management, development and integration, quality assurance, network management and operations and strategic infrastructure planning.

He holds dual bachelor’s degrees from New York University and Stevens Institute of Technology in computer science and electrical engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Touro College and is currently seeking his doctorate at Long Island University, the district said.

“I am passionate about education and technology and excited to support the West Islip community as we prepare our students for college and careers,” Posyer said.
