West Islip Student Named Winner Of Festival Of Lights Contest

WEST ISLIP, NY - A West Islip’s Beach Street Middle School student was recently named the winner of the Festival of Lights program cover contest.

Mia Brandenstein, an eighth-grader, was announced the winner at the event sponsored annually for 42 years by American Legion Post 1738.

She was congratulated by West Islip School District Art Director Eric Albinder, Beach Street Principal Andrew O’Farrell, and Beach Street art teacher Jill Culver at the event on Dec. 3.

“I was incredibly impressed with all of the beautiful artwork submitted, but Mia’s was spectacular,” Festival of Lights Committee chairman Kevin Crumlish said.
