Advice for College Freshman by Heather Fausel

Adjusting to college life out of high school can be pretty tuff. You are in a completely new environment where you don't know anyone. But rest assured that it is ok because everyone is in the same boat as you are. So here are a few tips fo you:

  1. DO NOT stay in room the whole time. You must leave your comfort zone and go meet people. And like I said before everyone is trying to make friends because they are in the same position as you are
  2. Join clubs and get involved on campus it helps you not to stay in your room the whole time and it helps you expand or find your interests
  3. If you don't drink don't feel pressured that you have to or that is the only way to have a good time
  4. Respect your roommates
  5. Fight the freshman 15 by eating healthy and going to the gym regularly. This isn't just advice for now but will be a good habit for the rest of your life.
  6. Go to class (every once and a while)... you or your parents are paying for it so have some respect for the money they are spending to give you a better life.
  7. Apply to internships early. Do not go your college career without an internship.
  8. Consider Greek Life. It is not for everyone and it is different at every school, but there are great aspects of joining a frat or sorority, besides parties
  9. Find cheap college textbooks, do not buy through school. Complete rip off.
  10. Lastly enjoy the time you have because 4 years go by so quickly
