AFP NY Westchester to hold National Philanthropy Day Conference
This year's National Philanthropy Day Conference will be hosted by Manhattanville College on the Collaborative Art of Fundraising
The Westchester County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will be holding their annual National Philanthropy Day Conference on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 8:00am-1:30pm at Manhattanville College located at 2900 Purchase Street in Purchase, NY. National Philanthropy Day, celebrated nationally on November 15th, recognizes the accomplishments and the involvement of those in the philanthropic process. This year’s theme for the National Philanthropy Day Conference will be on The Collaborative Art of Fundraising with a block of workshops on effective communications and fundraising, an exhibitor area, networking, breakfast, lunch, and a keynote delivered by Laura Fredericks.
This year’s keynote will be delivered by Laura Fredericks, CEO and Founder of THE ASK ©, who teaches nonprofits and philanthropic professionals how to confidently, willingly, and successfully make THE ASK for charitable dollars. For over 27 years, Fredericks has advised organizations around the world on current trends that impact and influence the for-profit and nonprofit world. She is author of five books, with her latest The Ask: For Business, For Philanthropy, and Everyday Living becoming an international industry leading go to guide for entrepreneurs and philanthropists. In addition to her published works, Fredericks is also the co-host of the international radio show: REAL TALK LIVE, which reaches hundreds of thousands of people each week and has regular segments on Yahoo Business.

Attendees will explore new ways of thinking in today’s challenging fundraising environment with four dynamic interactive sessions. Laura Fredericks, the keynote speaker for this year’s conference, will be leading a session on how to transform repetitive conversations with your donors into more engaging dialogue with “The Art of the Ask”. Robin Merle, Vice President & Executive Director, John Jay College Foundation, will be leading a session with tips and proven methods on how to build stronger and more lasting relationships with donors. Create more effective written donor communications and achieve your fundraising goals with a session led by Betsy Steward, Senior Consultant at Heller Fundraising Group. Identify the pillars of successful fundraisers and learn a proven technique to enhance your ability to focus in preparing for key donor interactions with a session on “Zen and the Art of Fundraising” led by Alexandra Brovey, Senior Director of Gift Planning, Northwell Health Foundation.
The National Philanthropy Day Conference is open to the public and tickets can be purchased online at www.afpwestchester.org/NPD2019 . Ticket prices for members of AFP Westchester is $175 and for non members of AFP Westchester it is $225.
