Asylum-Seekers Arrive In White Plains Motel Sunday
The mayor said that 46 people — families and children under 5 — were brought up from New York City.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — More asylum-seekers from the southern border arrived in Westchester County.
White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach said 46 people — families and children under 5 — arrived Sunday night at the Central Motel Courtyard in White Plains, News 12 reported.
New York City contracted with the motel for 29 rooms, but so far, only 16 are occupied.

Roach told News 12 that White Plains will do what it can to be a welcoming environment and treat the families with dignity.
On May 15, Westchester County officials were surprised when asylum-seekers arrived at the Ramada Inn on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.

County Executive George Latimer said New York City will pay for the immigrants’ housing and meals. He also said at the time that NYC officials were reaching out to a number of Westchester hotels to find space for more asylum-seekers.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, while welcoming the immigrants from the southern border, had harsh words for New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
He complained there was very little notice given, as well as no resources provided to the community.
Other counties, including Dutchess, Rockland and Orange, have issued states of emergency and filed restraining orders against New York City.
The New York Civil Liberties Union have taken on Orange and Rockland counties in court over their emergency orders trying to stop New York City from temporarily housing migrants in local hotels.
