CD-17 Candidates Call on Cuomo to Reduce Ballot Requirements
All of the leading candidates signed onto the letter demanding changes to petitioning requirements to protect public health

Joint Statement from the Candidates of New York’s 17th Congressional District:
As we all know, our nation is in the midst of a pandemic threat from the novel coronavirus unlike anything we have experienced in recent memory.
This is a time for our nation to come together and acknowledge that the health and safety of our communities must transcend politics. We applaud the efforts of our public health officials and frontline healthcare providers here in New York who are working tirelessly to keep us safe.

As candidates to represent New York’s 17th Congressional District, we share a unique perspective on the challenges facing our community—and a special responsibility to do everything we can to keep the people of our district safe.
For the health and safety of the people of Rockland and Westchester Counties, our campaign staffs, and our volunteers, we are unwilling to continue business as usual. The petitioning process to collect signatures requires face-to-face interactions that fly in the face of safety guidance issued by the CDC, state health officials, and Governor Cuomo.
