
White Plains has lost funding for its after-school program due to federal sequestration, The Journal News reports.
The program, which served 363 students last year, is run by the city's Youth Bureau.
There were a record number of applications, the New York Department of Education told TJN/lohud.com reporter Leah Rae, and the state received less money than it planned.

About $4.3 million was lost to White Plains, Port Chester, the Tarrytowns and New Rochelle. A program in Peekskill was among those that did receive money.
