Softball

In a split at home on the 14th with Southern New Hampshire, St. Rose's indomitable right hander Lauren Sputo (White Plains ’11), after her team was trounced 10-0 in the opener, wherein she pitched 3.0 innings, gave up 4 runs on 5 hits, walked 2, and had 1 wild pitch in relief, but was not the loser, then took the mound in the nightcap, and proceeded to pitch her Golden Knights to a 2-1 triumph, as she went all the way, giving up 7 hits, walking 1, fanning 1, and hitting 1 batter, to put her won-lost record at 5-10.

The following day, the 15th, her team hosted a double header with St. Anselm (NH), dropping the opener, 10-1. Sputo pinched 0.2 inning, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, and fanning 1 batter. The Knights copped the 2nd game, 2-1.

It was another big day for Lehman's  talented 3rd sacker,  Janet Ortiz (White Plains-River Ridge ’09), as on the 13th, in a twin bill with visiting John Jay, she batted 4-5, scored 3 runs, had 3 r.b.i.'s, and made 4 put outs and had 4 assists in the 16-15 squeaker win, with her Lightnings coming from behind in the 9th inning to score 2 runs, as Ortiz started the rally with a single and later scored.

In game two, she went 3-4, scored 3 runs, had an r.b.i. , and had a put out and 2 assists in the infield, in the 4-3 loss.

Kate Smayda (White Plains '09) of Swarthmore's softball team, in a twin loss at home with rivals Dickinson, batted 0-3 and fanning once in the 1-0 opener, and came back with 2-4 at bat and scored 1 run in the 6-3 nightcap. 

Golf

In an 11 team tournament at Mass-Lowell on the 15th, Rob Sorrentino (Tarrytown-Stepinac '08) tied for 9th place, with a 3 round total of 150 - +10 over par, as his Pace Setters finished 5th on the day.

White Plains Softball

White Plains' Danielle Sputo gave up two earned runs while striking out 11 in the Tigers' 2-0 loss to visiting Pelham April 17 according to Debbie Schechter's post on the LoHud Softball Blog.

Stepinac Baseball

Stepinac's Julian Ponce went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored while teammate Skyler Mercado went 2 for 3 with a walk in the Crusaders' 9-2 loss against visiting Fordham Prep April 18 according to Vincent Mercogliano's post on the LoHud Baseball Blog.
