Community Divided over Marijuana Dispensary in White Plains

Empire State Health Solutions is planning a medical marijuana dispensary downtown.

Empire State Health Solutions is planning to open a medical marijuana dispensary in downtown White Plains, but according to published reports opinions on the proposal are mixed.

Westchester County would only have two of the planned 20 dispensaries around the state, and The Journal News writes that some believe such a business in White Plains could give a negative perception of the community.

Others believe it would not be a problem, in part because there are people who legitimately use the drug for medical reasons. The planned location for the White Plains facility would be at the corner of East Post Road and South Broadway, and would open on or after January 1, 2016.
