Compare Your Home Heating Oil Price

The brief cold snap of earlier in the week might be easing, but there's still plenty of chill in the air to keep your oil burner hard at work. 

Curious if you are paying the same as those around you?

NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, just released this round up of average home heating oil prices throughout the lower Hudson Valley, updated Jan. 5.

Our region came in just above the state average for December at 398.5 cents per gallon, on average, for standard #2 home heating oil or $3.985 per gallon.

The state average is 393.4 cents per gallon.

Data for Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties

The prices tracked are for #2 Fuel Oil, on credit, and surveys are done weekly from October through March and less frequently during other times of the year.

Curious about wider trends?

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the price for residential heating oil increased just a hair last week (the week ending Jan. 2.) "The average residential heating oil price rose by $0.01 per gallon last week to reach $3.84 per gallon, nearly $0.51 per gallon higher than the same time last year."
