Coronavirus: 23 Westchester County Jail Employees Are Infected
No visits to county jails have been allowed since the second week in March.
VALHALLA, NY — Almost two dozen employees at the Westchester County Jail, as well as six inmates, have tested positive for the new coronavirus. Neil Pellone, president of the Westchester Correction Officers PBA, is among those who tested positive for the virus.
The number rose to 23 confirmed cases of employees from only three March 23, the Journal News reported.

The county corrections department said in March that surgical masks would be distributed because some feared they might become infected with COVID-19.
Correction officials told News 12 that there were no plans to release inmates at this time.
