County To Pay $300K Lawsuit Settlement Against Bee-Line

The settlement was with the family of a man killed when he was hit by a bus in 2009.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County will have to pay for a settlement of a lawsuit because of an arrangement with the company that runs the Bee-Line bus service. Liberty Line, which runs the buses, negotiated a settlement with the family of a man killed when he was hit by a bus in 2009.

The county will have to pay $300,000, because the agreement with Liberty Lines said Westchester pays for everything up to $250,000, as well as paying anything more out of an excess insurance policy, lohud.com said.

One county legislator said that the bus company has no cost-reduction incentives because Westchester contractually has to pay everything.
