The Family Theatre Company and the Westchester Broadway Theatre host a unique celebration featuring Sparky the Fire Dog and a preview of the upcoming production of Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
On Tuesday, December 6th from 10:00 – 11:00am at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, NY, educators and those working with youth are invited to an event celebrating Mark Twain’s 176th birthday and Sparky’s 60th birthday. The event is free and open to the public and educators who attend will have an opportunity to win 50 free tickets to Big River for their students. Guests will watch a short preview of Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn followed by a Q&A with the characters from the show. After that they will meet Sparky, learn about fire safety and have their book signed by the author. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn will be at the Westchester Broadway Theatre from February 2-26, 2012. Twain’s timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi, as the courageous Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, to escape to freedom. Through powerful dialogue and heartfelt song, a vibrant cast brings the timely themes of diversity, acceptance, respect and freedom front and center. Feel yourself being taken away by the soulful gospel and authentic country music, including a triumphant spiritual, Free at Last.
