Get strong to the core with Westchester Cycle Club

On Monday, Feb. 27, the Westchester Cycle Club will be presenting a Core Conditioning dinner program at the Tuscan Grille at 518 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The evening begins with dinner followed by a presentation with guest speakers Eve Hartman and Emma Jonssen who concentrate on core conditioning and how it can make you stronger – whether you cycle, hike, walk or run.

Core conditioning, one of the most beneficial components of strength training for cyclists, can improve performance especially when the moves are sport specific. The focus is on strengthening your abdominal and lower back muscles, as well as your entire core in order to achieve optimum performance. You will discover that you first must achieve stability in order to expand on strength.

Hartman and Jonssen are seasoned pros who will explain and demonstrate the value of each exercise and movement, and answer your questions. They will motivate you to create your own personal program for a stronger core. Hartman is a personal trainer who teaches spinning, stretch and ab classes at Premier Athletic Club in Montrose and utilizes moves that incorporate Pilates, yoga and other techniques. A triathlete, she is also certified in TRX and owns MissFit Personal Training.
